Who we are
We started Basepaths and Beyond with the goal of improving the landscape of youth baseball and softball in the Spokane area both physically (advocating for better, safer, and cleaner playing fields) and at the fundamental level through better communication within the baseball and softball communities as well as lowering the barrier of entry by donating gear and apparel to kids who otherwise could not afford to play!
Facility development:
This year, we began collaborating with the City of Spokane to improve the condition of our playing fields in the area. Over the past couple of years, our youth baseball and softball teams have been playing in our local city parks which have become far less inviting for various reasons. Garbage, graffiti, safety concerns, lack of public restrooms, etc. Those conversations led us to get involved with our local city leaders, and Spokane Public School leaders to advocate for the Together Spokane initiative. Due to the amazing public support, Together Spokane passed, and we are now looking at an extremely bright future for youth sports in Spokane!! It is our goal at Basepaths and Beyond to be the voice for youth baseball and softball and ensure Together Spokane benefits baseball and softball, along with youth soccer, and other sports which currently have top notch facilities in the area.
Our efforts are paying off! When Together Spokane was initially proposed, we were hoping to get 1-3 turf infields at the Franklin Park Sports Complex. As of today, there are very serious discussions about a brand new YOUTH baseball and softball complex! It is because of all your support that we are showing decision makers how NEEDED these improvements are. Please, keep spreading the word about our mission, and inviting friends and family members to get involved! There is a lot of room for improvement, and we feel like we’re heading in the right direction!
Coaches Clinics:
At BPB, we know that there are a lot of ways we can help strengthen the baseball and softball communities. One way is through better collaboration with our amazing coaches in the area! We always put our focus on the kids, but we have amazing minds in our sport that just need to be brought together and share their knowledge! That is why we will be putting on our first coaches clinic early in 2026 and bringing in local college coaches, and individuals within Major League Baseball to collaborate and spread their knowledge!
We will be partnering with Spokane Indians Youth Baseball to encourage all coaches to attend. Some of the topics covered:
-Why we coach
-Being a role model
-Developing ALL players for the future in baseball and life
-Sportsmanship towards umpires, other teams, parents
-Building a foundation rather than a super team
-Age based skill development
*8U-10U is much different than 11U-13U
-More advanced and technical instruction
-Hitting, fielding, pitching, defensive philosophies
Whether you’re a seasoned baseball/softball person or you only signed up so your son or daughter would have a team, we hope you join! It will be a great way to collaborate and potentially learn new, or different ways of teaching. Because in the end, the only thing that matters are the kids!
Gear and Equipment Donations:
One of the things we are most excited to provide to the community is an opportunity to give back, as well as receive help getting the necessary equipment to play baseball and softball. We want to do everything we can to let ANY kid be able to play and we know the sports of baseball and softball can be expensive to get started! With that being said, if you are in a position that you have extra gloves, bats, helmets, gently used pants, cleats, belts, catchers gear, etc. that you would be willing to donate, we would greatly appreciate your support!
If you, or someone you know is in need of equipment, please fill out the form to the right to get us connected and we will reach out and figure out how we can help you.
